Helen Mae Johnson

Helen Mae Johnson, 79, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:45 P.M., Monday, January 19, 2004 at her residence.
Helen was a homemaker.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin, Ruth Sunshine Sunday School Class, WMU, Perry County Senior Citizens and Gold Plate.
She was born June 27, 1924 at Tilden, IL, the daughter of Bernard and Lillian (Harrison) Keller.
She married Cornelius Johnson on September 28, 1943 at Perryville, Missouri and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1972.
She is survived by four sons - Richard Johnson and wife Mary Lu of Marissa, IL, Keith Johnson and wife Ramona of Carmi, IL, David Johnson and wife Theresa of Du Quoin, and Scott Johnson of Salem, IL, one step daughter - Judy Poe of Boulder, CO, twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 23, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M., Friday at the church.
Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or Kitchen Fund, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or American Diabetes Association.
